The role of the Barnet Safer Neighbourhood Board is to establish local policing and crime priorities, monitor police performance and confidence, and fulfil a range of important specific functions. It holds public meetings to discuss all aspects of policing within the borough and acts as an umbrella body for the ward panels

HOLDING THE POLICE TO ACCOUNT
Barnet Safer Neighbourhood Board has been created to provide all residents and businesses in the Borough with a mechanism that:

Measures the effectiveness of the Borough Police Service and holds it accountable to the public it serves

Works cooperatively with the local Police to help establish their Policing priorities

Supports and encourages initiatives that protect the public from criminal activity and help prevent crime.

Tracks the public’s confidence in the local Police and works towards its continuous and justified improvement

Monitors complaints by the public and ensure satisfactory resolutions

Leads and coordinates the activities of a number of pre-existing bodies (voluntary and remunerated) that have direct interfaces with the Borough Police
